Trend: Our Favourite Interior Design Trends of 2018

We’ve nearly reached the half-way mark of 2018(!) so before time gets away with us we thought we’d showcase five of our favourite interior design trends that we’ve been loving so far this year…

Bold Colours

2018 has seen a rise in bigger and brighter colour schemes as designers and homeowners alike became bolder with their choice of colour palettes. As much as we love minimalist design, it’s exciting to see these new clashes of colour being introduced. We’ve seen plenty of greens and reds alongside mustards and deep aubergine shades, making for warm and welcoming spaces. We’ve taken inspiration from this trend for our bold blue and red sofas for hire.

The 70s

As we witnessed at Salone del Mobile, the influence of the 1970s on interior design isn’t fading out anytime soon. With the help of designers such as India Mahdavi, large floral patterns and dusty shades of pink, green and mustard are everywhere. Textured seating, exposed wood and statement lighting are also a few of our favourite elements from this trend.

Velvet

No doubt another branch from the 1970s trend, velvet was arguably the biggest design craze of 2017 and looks set to be high in the rankings for 2018 too. No matter what the shade, velvet makes a statement and instantly transforms a room into a more luxurious space. Velvet sofas are our favourite but a velvet armchair or cushions can make a great compromise if you’re not sure about going all out. Our Mayfair velvet sofa comes in blue and aubergine and is perfect to hire for your next event if you’re looking to incorporate the velvet trend.

Terrazzo

Eco-friendly and easy on the eye, terrazzo is a 16th century invention from Italy, designed as a way to reuse stone offcuts. It’s recently had a modern refresh thanks to the likes of dzek, Nomos and the popularity of Wes Anderson’s Milan Bar. We love the injection of colour and addition of glass – from bathrooms covered from floor to ceiling, to subtler examples such as staircases and table tops, terrazzo is a sure way to make a space special and memorable.

Metallics

Pinterest has seen a crazy 70% rise in searches for metallic decor ideas this year. Brass is particularly popular and metallic features alongside glass and marble, as well as mixing metals are some features we’re loving from this trend. As is similar with velvet, metallic elements add an instant touch of luxe to a space, whether that’s a large brass table or a small copper lamp, metal pieces help to boost a room’s sophistication. Our Copper Maze Side Table is available to hire for events and photoshoots, fitting with the metallic trend.
